This 1.4 version, the hash is stuck on about 4M to 6MB and you cannot change it inside the gui as you can with all your other versions. I have no idea what it does in any other guis, but it can't be tested in a chessbase gui.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help anyone using a chessbase gui. Which brings up another point- what do people running Fritz do- just run engines and not check a damn thing to see if it is working right. I know damn well they don't check- or at least someone would have mentioned it by now. Some testers we have.

Version 1.4 WON'T Work in Fritz 11 or Fritz 13!

Hash is stuck on around 4MB to 6MB- can't change it. All other versions work fine. It boggles the mind to think no one has even bothered to check this- or I am the only one on the planet running Fritz.

gts

PS: Please don't tell me what it does in other interfaces- not interested.

George, i'll look for this.
Have you got the same problem with the hash size lower that 4GB ?

In Fritz11 and Fritz 13, in task manager the memory shows 9,000k, which means 9MB hash. If you assume that part of it may be pawn hash, etc.- then you could probably say the hash instead of 9MB is likeky 4MB to 6MB. And it cannot be changed. This is your first version that has not handled the hash perfectly.

But what you have to understand is where my ire is directed. Certainly not with you. We have minor errors all the time. It is the nature of the beast. Problem is I am late loading it because I bought anew i7 6core system and I have been up to my eyeballs moving things over to it. But what about the people running it in Fritz 11 or 13, or another chessbase gui, beside me. Surely I am not the only one. And that is where my frustration lies. With people running it in Fritz 11 or Fritz 13- who very obviously have not checked one damn thing about the engine- yet they want to be recognized as testers.

I am sorry- "it is what it is." Anyone who knows me knows I am not politically correct- and don't pull any punches. You can count on it- some people have been running it in Fritz 11, 13, etc., for the better part of a week. They obviously never checked the engine to make sure all was well- or did and just did not give a damn. So to plagarize Bob Hyatt- this is a perfect example of what he calls just "basement testers."

George, this is the firts version of BlackMamba that use LargePages or MemoryMappedFiles to allocate the Hash.
There is a problem in the hash initialization routine that can't go beyond 4GB (you're right !!!) with chessbase (and you have a pm 8-) )
