Presumably because Houdini's contempt setting will avoid slightly more draws against weaker opponents than Stockfish's 0 contempt setting does.

I did some LS tests with Stockfish with Contempt=15 and Contempt=30 (see Fishcooking). The draw-rate lowered a little bit, but the score didnt get better.

This is the result after 502 game.

The match is played with opening book
Perfect2014.ctg. It is 16 Megabyte big and all game are altso played reversed.
That mean that all game have repeatet opening.
The same opening as stockfish have, that opening nex game altso have.

1 Stockfish 300314 64 SSE4.2 +40 +156/=248/-98 55.78% 280.0/502
2 Houdini 4 Pro x64 -40 +98/=248/-156 44.22% 222.0/502

Is stockfish better than Houdini 4 ?
This was a choking result.
All i say is please just keep it coming! i like to know the truth and in which ways they vary. I'm not at the moment at any fixation as to which one i WISH to believe is best.
But i DO wish that which ever is the best, is clearly the best, so i don't need one engine for one position and another engine for another position.

2 Houdini 4 Pro x64 -50 +183/=517/-330 42.86% 441.5/1030

I stop it now because 130 games is enougt for me to see that this last Stockfush is better than Houdini 4, on mye computer on my Intel I7 3770 CPU

Now my big Question is,.... Is Stockfish 300314 better than the top ranket Stockfush on ratingtabell.

2 Stockfish 220214 64 SSE4.2 -23 +3/=22/-5 46.67% 14.0/30

I have started the big test.
Stockfish 220214 have been the beste Stockfish inntil now.
Maybe it not so longer.

Maybe Stockfish 300314 is the best Stockfish now.
Since Houdini 4 not could stand against the Stockfish 300314, it is probably better than Stockfish 220214.

That this test will prove, or not. Follow this.

2 Stockfish 220214 64 SSE4.2 -27 +5/=49/-10 46.09% 29.5/64

I'm beginning to see the outlines of the latest version of Stockfish is the best version ever.

Now I understand why it knock off Houdini 4.

2 Stockfish 220214 64 SSE4.2 -14 +21/=175/-30 48.01% 108.5/226

Here is the result so far.

We can see that the new Stockfish is better than the long time favorite 22.february version.

Yes, I have.

1 Stockfish 300314 64 SSE4.2 +16 +60/=338/-40 52.28% 229.0/438
2 Stockfish 220214 64 SSE4.2 -16 +40/=338/-60 47.72% 209.0/438

Do you see the picture here?

I can let it go to 1000 games, and we will see the same result.

2 Stockfish 220214 64 SSE4.2 -14 +49/=382/-69 48.00% 240.0/500

After 500 games, the trend is the same.
Is there any that believe that 22. february version of Stockfish still is the best?
