Some engines have clear disadvantage by bad scaling on 24cpu.
Some use only 60-80% cpu power. Seems time is not right for this.
My apologys and thanks for the many intrests.
Sorry to hear that. I guess not too many authors have tested their engines on 24 cores for correct operation.

May be you can make a little report for each engine ...

I started the Final Tournament from the "Lord" series.
Top 6 of 12core tour play the final.
conditions:
- round robin tour, 10 rds / 150 games
- 90min +30sec, ponder OFF
- engine use 24 cpu, no LP, no HT
- 5 mvs book
- no tablebases
- 8GB hashtables

crosstable can be found here:

livegames (update 20sec, maybe has to be improved, lets see) here:

I hope all works fine, as it will take a while ( 25days?)

Clemens Keck

Hi,

Sorry to hear that. I always enjoy watching your tourney's especially the live ones. I understand that because of low interest you decided to dedicate your pc for other things.

I hope you will start soon a new tourney.

Dear Clemens,

Thanks a lot for your efforts and for the valuable information...

As I expected...it means we still need to wait regarding testing the engines with 24 cores

And I hope the programmers will make updates and release newer versions which will be capable to play and to use 24 cores!

Best wishes,
Sedat

It looks like the stereotype of programmer can not compete with hardware size.

Basically, the developer is a common type,
if it is also open source, is altruistic,
I mean a guy without much economic aspirations rather alguin works for his own pleasure and enjoyment of chess.

Professional programs must have these resources, others, some still moving in 32-bit machines.

Giving programs AVX to 24 cores with an AMD 32-bit ....

Thank you all for your nice answres to my cancel of the tour.
Its kind of unexpected to me, and very wellcome.
Myoppinion About engine usage of 24 cpu:
I think " who the hell needs that" ?
Of course for many it is intresting to see engines on 16 or more cores.
But especially TCEC feeds those interests in a perfect way.

In my opinion, TCEC caters to a lot of computer chess fans because many engines are used. But some of us prefer to see CPU cycles "invested" in the best engines. As someone said, a top 4 (or 3) shootout would be welcome. AFAIK, no one else does testing on 24 cores and the data which can be extracted from those games is valuable.

I thought about those matches. But for me it would only be intresting with a large time control and a huge hashtablesizes. 120 / 40 for example.
I have no mood for this right now.
Actually I am running a 60+15 12 cores with ponder ON. But dont know if I will run it till the end
