Critter makes it into the next stage by a whisker!

There had been a gentleman's agreement that if Fire had qualified, that it would ceed its place to Gull, since it is the only engine in the tie that is still being actively developed. However, I don't think that Critter was in on this agreement.

Ian, please don't post such misinformation...
As most know, Fire is actively being developed. 3.0 was released in Dec 2013, 3.1 was sent to Martin in Feb. 2014, and 3.2 with TB support and other improvements is also ready.

There was no 'gentleman's agreement'...it was simply a suggestion.
Here is what I posted in TCEC 'chat':

I'm impressed with Gull's progress, and Vadim is working harder than most with 5 release since last June

When thoroughly tested, Gull 3 will end up #4 in the rating lists, currently Fire is only #6

Therefore I have officially requested that 'if' Fire qualifies for stage 4, Gull play in the place of Fire
for fairness, and in the interest of 'best' competition

I emailed Martin earlier..and I believe it's correct thing to do

I will not 'withdraw' Fire, my email to Martin is just a request in an effort to have stage 4 be as competitive as possible

Vadim is extremely active, and working harder than most

I add my voice of pleasant surprise that Critter got through having expected it would be Fire.

I am happy about the outcome, but, it's a shame if Critter developement cannot continue again.

Perhaps this activity might influence parties involved that Critter may continue developement?
