It works here.
There are two different Downloads. Use the other one.

You have to download the SMP version, not the normal 2.2 version.

Werner & Thorsten, thanks! You are both right; it was user error after all :).

There is a separate download for ProDeo 2.2 SMP - use that one. It works as described by Ed!

It seems the engine needs an update in code, not only in op. books.

Crafty got a lot better these years...

I´m still a fan of Rebel/Prodeo because I can draw one to ten games out of 100, while Stockfish (& other top-10 engines) beats me badly 100 - 0.

I still run Rebel old DOS versions under DOSBox in Linux. It´s a pity there is not a new Prodeo engine for DOS. That´s nostalgia !

I´m running prodeo 2.2 SMP under ChessPartner (Yes ! Nostalgia again...).

Somehow I can´t see nothing when I open the tutor tab.

Here´s what I get in the last tab:

ProDeo YAT (February, 2016)

I´m confused about those files mainbook.bin, .val and tourbook.bin ... do I have to delete them,or they can co-exist in the same subforder with .cht and .ebf files ?

There are also many \book folders:

\ChessPartner\Engines\book
\ChessPartner\Engines\Prodeo22-SMP\books
\ChessPartner\Engines\Prodeo22-SMP\Q3\books ==>where I installed the .cht and .ebf files

What am I doing wrong ?

All books belong into the red folder.

In tutor-tab you will get a statistic of the order books are searched, something like:

Code: Select all

Moves played from Programmable Book : 0
Moves played from Tournament Book : 4
Moves played from Main Book : 0
 Moves played from SF7 Book : 0 (illegal 0)
Moves played from EBF Book : 0 (illegal 0)
Moves played from CHT Book : 0

Other questions:

1) What is the better interface to run prodeo ?

2) Is it possible to see the op. moves chosen fron .ebf or .cht running it with Arena (I guess it is not possible under Fritz because it only works with .ctg op. books) ?

You can see the same book statistic in the textfile PARAM.TXT thus valid for every GUI.
