The ROMS which you can convert to .bat files in the CB-Emu Pro program work fine with the Hiarcs Explorer.
Also the legendary Saitek SPARC module, Dan & Kathe Spracklen's strongest offering is aldo now available

Re: MessChess
I still haven't understood one thing - how to set a level, for example with a parameter, so that in my GUI, whether ChessBase or Arena, it plays at approximately the tempo I want and not at some automatic, usually quite low, preset level? I've tried a few trunays in Arena and everything played at its own tempo, whatever I set as tempo. In a way, the games are more interesting, because there are plenty of human-detectable mistakes.
From what I remember of the Mephisto modular MMI, the 2h/40 tournament was level 6, as was Mirage. Supermondial I think B2, Berlin 68000 I don't remember ...

Well, those old chess computers have their own levels and of course don't 'understand' any levels that the GUI (Winboard, Arena etc.) provides.Rubinus wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:38 am I still haven't understood one thing - how to set a level, for example with a parameter, so that in my GUI, whether ChessBase or Arena, it plays at approximately the tempo I want and not at some automatic, usually quite low, preset level? So it's useless to set any GUI level - you have to enter the wanted level in the engine configuration dialog (e.g. 'Engine settings' in Winbard, 'Configure engine' in Arena).
In this engine configuration dialog you'll see an entry 'Level', and there are in principle 3 different level settings used by these chess computers:
1) a simple number (e.g. 1..9): just select or enter the number
2) a board square (e.g. a1..h8): enter the desired square in the text field
3) some engines also have 'descriptive' levels ('sec/move' or 'min/game' etc.), which have to be entered in the text field almost in the same way
as you would have to select them in the real devices within level menus - for some examples have a look at the file 'Levels.txt' in the subfolder 'MessChess'!
Of course for all 3 methods you need to know what the numbers or squares in 1) and 2) mean for each engine, or which level settings in 3) are actually available for any engine, and that is only possible by looking into the engine's manual - manuals for almost all chess computers can be downloaded from Alain Zanchetta's website:

Re: MessChess
Franz really is a genius for doing this. Just note that apparently the SPARC program is only active if you use levels E-GAdminX wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 4:35 am [pgn]
