No legal chess fen found... no idea if this a trolling attempt?
(and moreover it has nothing to do with xboard/winboard, but polyglot refusing moves from your 'fen' as Black.)

This must be pre-xmas insanity.

Despite the illegal fen with 39 white pawns (seven of them on rank 1) no problem for winboard with uci2wb.
=> time control 0:01+0.1 ;-) (WB compilation with 2 digits precision for time)

It seems this Horde-like variant works on WB. This game doesn't even replay on XBoard 4.9.1.
It's propably PolyGlot issue. Since my XBoard-protocol engine works without issues.
Theban works on XBoard eventho pawns start from rank1.
My only point is C should be only used for Linux, not graphical stuff 8-)

Does this mean the only reason you posted in this thread several times is that you are/were drunk?

Mayhem for example has 100ms MoveOverhead. So Mayhem never uses more than "time available" - 100ms.
Time losses are only possible on very weak HW.

More XBoard bugs. How is f5g6 illegal move? Look at this game:

You raise two issues here:

The illegal move in Horde is not an XBoard bug, but a user error. XBoard has in fact nothing to do with it at all. It is Polyglot which resigns on behalf of the engine (as the result message points out). Polyglot is quite pedantic, and apparently it recognizes the initial position as invalid under FIDE rules. Lesson: you should only use Polyglot for normal Chess or Chess960. For variants you can use UCI2WB (which is rule agnostic) as adapter.

As to timing: XBoard normally performs the move animation in parallel with the engine thinking, not at the expense of the engine's time budget. But if the engine sends a move before the animation is done, XBoard finishes the animation before it can process this move (starting to animate that, and switching the clock). I prefer not to cut the ongoing animation short: the whole point of asking for animation is that you want to be able to watch the game. Some 10 moves before a checkmate engines start to play instantly from their hash table, so you would never get the opportunity to see how they did it. If speed is more important to you than watching, fine, then just switch off animation.

Skipper lost from Stockfish 14 with 4-2 in a short tournament of 6 games. Time control 15 seconds for 60 moves.

If your gui is fair - and the engine does not spend time on the move (ie plays direcly from TT) i think there is really almost no limit to moves/s an engine could make. Because even if TT is empty and the engine gets 1ms then the engine can generate all ~30 moves and sort them in well under 1ms for the response.

So if the gui does not subtract its own overhead i think 1s total time for the maximum moves any game could last (with fide rules) is totally possible.

Now if your engine does need 10ms to wake up after "stop" + "position fen " + "go" then its another story.
IMO the whole thread is a gui issue.

Skipper did not lose a game on time. So if Stockfish plays as fast as Skipper it won't lose on time.
