That site mentions a MPI version of stockfish, anyone know where to find the code for such a beast? Im running a modest MPI cluster here and would be interested in trying it out.

She is correct, of course. But it is a 'man's prerogative' to always seek new toys. I think biologist will find it baked into our DNA at some point...if they haven't already and just call it by a different name. Like '_____' (fill in your the blank). 8-)

No she isn't, not for analysis. Chess is a game about truth and a faster machine can get to that truth in less time.
Deep Fritz 10 will beat you every time, but no one analyses with it anymore.

Yes of course ... nobody in his right mind would try and get a more powerful chess setup so he can have a stronger chess engine to go head to head with. This has not been the case for almost 20 years. I mean I was actually at the Chess in Bahrain event in 2002 where Kramnik lost to Deep Fritz! That was when Kramnik was at his very best ... and that same chess engine would lose to SF 14.1 on mobile probably 10-0. But when you analyze or replay a game with engine running ... you want to know the truth as fast as possible. On many occasions a human can see a move that an engine will take time to accept. This actually happened with MC a few months ago where during analysis he played a move the engine totally disliked ... and then he was but why is that losing ... played a few moves on and the engine changed its mind. Nowadays the "truth" comes out almost instantaneously, and the more powerful the engine-hardware combo ... the faster the correct evaluation comes out.
