Well, you say he "struggled", but he did win 4 to 2, better than the 8 to 5 score of the humans yesterday. But his FIDE rating was about 280 above their average rating, so the long time control for the humans (together with the simul handicap and no ponder for Dragon) did help them by a bit over a class (200 elo). I would guess my own chess play improves about a class going from Rapid to Classical.

Re: Opponents for handicap match dragon-humans
I think that it is not logical to have no ponder by dragon.
It basically means that there may be times during the games when dragon does nothing because it is the human to move in all the games
or only calculate one or 2 games out of 7 because it is the human turn in the other games.
Considering the fact that there is no equal time control so humans use most of the time it seems that it is better to have ponder on with the same hardware.

It's not clear to me. With hyperthreading on, it may be better for the processors not to share threads with other processors thinking about moves that may not be played. You may be right, but it's probably a close call. In any case, I'm not sure that having more time to think is even useful (beyond Rapid) when giving knight odds. I didn't use MCTS for this event; if I did then it is more likely that Ponder would pay off.Uri Blass wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 8:04 pm I think that it is not logical to have no ponder by dragon.

The main advantage of pondering is not playing better moves but replying faster to the opponent move so the opponent has less time to think on the computer time.lkaufman wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 9:28 pmIt's not clear to me. It is not a big advantage considering the fact that humans use most of the time.

To be more correct oded claimed that his game is not opened and not that he could not find his game.
I sent him a link and after that he said that he partially understand what is the bug and when he opened from his games computer is written instead of live and if he change it to live he can see the game.

There are going to be 2 games in the same day when part of the human opponents are going to play 2 games and part of them one game.
one game will start probably in 14:00 pm israel time control if there is no objection by the players)
The original idea was 13:00 pm israel time.
Second game is planned to be played 17:30 pm israel time but players who play 2 games are going to get at least one half hour between the games.
The following list is not a final list and it is possible that there will be some change but this is what I plan to have:
One player with knight for f7 pawn handicap
IM Ariel Erenberg fide rating 2520
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2811634
Probably 2 games.
players with full knight handicap
FM Ori Kochavi fide ratinf 2365(not sure if one or 2 games)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2816873
FM guy Levin fide rating 2354(only second game)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2824213
Nadav Zemach fide rating 2238(2 games)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2820927
WFM Michelle Katkov fide rating 2208(only first game)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2816393
FM Pavel Chernomordik fide rating fide rating 2178(2 games)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2804530
Guy Gov fide rating 2149(2 games)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2820200
Itay Sitbon(2 games) fide rating 2062
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2820706
Alon Cohen(second game) fide rating 2016
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2801809
Oded Ross(second game does not have fide rating except blitz but I believe at the level of fide rating 2000 at long time control)
https://ratings.fide.com/profile/2811189
Games are going to be played in chess.com
Players are going to get 100 shekels for losing 100+x shekel for a draw and 100+3x shekels for winning when to find x you need to solve the equation that say that average money per game is 250 shekels
No solution to the equation in case all are losing and in this case I am going to give everybody 250 shekels but I do not believe all are going to lose.
One dollar is 3.39 shekels today.

This subject is about old match from 2022 and the reason I responded is mainly because for some reason I do not see komodo games in chess.comglav wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 5:14 pmIs father playing?Uri Blass wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 7:17 pm The event is going to be played in 7.5 with time control 90+30 for the human against 15 minutes of dragon komodo.

I don't know the mechanics of the tournament. I have not been invited to play and I do not know if it is an open entry tournament or if it requires some type of prerequisite. Consequently I will not be playing in the tournament against the robots. Furthermore, this week has been a very difficult week for me, a great friend has been called by our Programmer to eternal life and this has been a painful surprise. Today is my good friend's funeral and from my desk I raise a prayer written with the depths of my human algorithm. The sentence consists of an artistic match in chess that I am going to publish here in the chat and that I have achieved
just a few minutes ago against high complexity LeelaKnightOdds, which I just played at 3 minute 2 second increment time control. As always I continue riding on my Catecan wooden horse, in this I fly through the clouds and stars looking for happiness driven by the hope of a better life that lasts forever in love. The second and minute hands of my algorithm's clock mark the footsteps of my horse and prove that it is running out second by second; The flag will fall and those who study the steps of the path will be able to follow it if they want..."Walker, there is no path,
the path is made by walking,
and when I look back,
you look at the path
that must never be stepped on again. Walker there is no path, the path is made by walking.!!
