I won another tough game against Komodo Dragon set Elo = 2050 with the b2 pawn Odds. At one point my King became completely open after the White night took my pawn f6 pawn at move 18. Nxf6 , and I got a little bit scare but with careful defense and counter attack I overcame it and little by little I won the game. After I moved my King to g7 18. Nxf6+ Kg7 I tried to force Komodo Dragon to move its knight to d7 Check and trade its knight for my Bishop, but Komodo Dragon refused to trade down when it was already losing in material. I love to play these crazy pawn odds games.

Have you tried to set Komodo 13.1 Elo to 2000 and remove the b2 pawn for the first game, then the c2 pawn, followed by d2, and e2 but not the f2 or g2 since it will play too weak. If it beat you set the Elo to 1900 and try those pawns odds that I mentioned, that would be more interesting for us to watch. Te deceo suerte Amigo
Hi.

I do not find a way to limit Komodo's strength within Banksia.
Perhaps Dragon can do that, but not the older versions of Komodo; I do not know.
It can be done with Stockfish (within Banksia engine settings) and Crafty (with a line command, or in the initialization file).

I think taking material odds and limited strength can be useful for beginners.
¿Perhaps it can be useful for me? The difficulty is to find the right material handicap and Elo level.

I also plan to play challenges against engines with limited strength, but Chess960 (not regular chess).
Perhaps still this year... I do not have that much time to play any possible challenge.

Greetings.

You can download Arena GUI here and click on Arena 3.5.1 Setup (16 MB) http://www.playwitharena.de/ after it automatically install, then you install Komodo under the subdirectory Arena ==> Engine. You click on Levels ==> Limit playing strength to Elo==> and set your desire Elo = 1800 or 1900 for example and click OK.

Note: Also I believe that you need at least Komodo Dragon 2.6.1 to be able to set different Levels. In version 2.6.1 the Skill levels have been replaced by Elo values, made much more human-like, and are now intended to correspond to human Fide ratings in Rapid chess, so for example an 1800 FIDE rated player should be closely matched with UCI Elo 1800 at 15' + 10". Also the MultiPV play of standard mode is dramatically improved from the initial dragon release, on top of the actual strength gain. Other features added since Komodo 13 include Armageddon mode, MCTS Optimism, Personalities, and Auto-Skill. Standard mode is usually the stronger mode objectively, while MCTS mode is usually better at setting problems for human opponents as it does not assume perfect defense, especially with more than a few seconds to consider, and is also stronger than standard mode when looking at several lines of play at once (MultiPV).
