Well you know the saying, you've got to be in to win.

I have ........

1. Ginko - 7
2, Leela - 6.5
3. Komodo - 6
4. Chiron - 4.5
5. Shredder - 4
6 Baron - 2

Baron had only 2 draws going in to it's final round upset of Komodo . With an expected win , Komodo would have tied Ginko for 1st ....

Oddly, the ICGA site has it as Dragon and Gingko at 7 (Baron at 1). You should inform them that they should halt the playoff and award the championship to…Leela.

Congrats Ginkgo

"Ginkgo is the new World Chess Software Champion 2022! After the play-off games, the draw in the Armageddon game against runner-up Komodo Dragon resulted in the title."

Did not see the point of having play-off games when Ginkgo had the better SB?

Congrats to Gingko and to third place finisher Leela. It shows that even on hardware that doesn’t sound like a jet engine or require liquid cooling, leela is close to the top 10 AB engines and can provide interesting play.

I watched the play off games live. I have to acknowledge that Ginkgo played fantastically well on the given hardware. I know Ginkgo as Fritz 18, but I think a much stronger engine played at the WCSC.

Dragon played well and was unlucky to come in second.

Lc0 also played well. On the internal Radeon 7 graphics it was like David versus Goliath. Nevertheless, Lc0 also had good chances for first place for a long time.

Shredder didn't play well. In losing game vs Lc0 I saw some sub-optimal moves. Unfortunately, I don't know if that was due to the book or the engine? Shredder also played strange against Dragon.

Congratulations to Ginkgo. Regardless of the result, I must say that using Armageddon to break ties between the top engines is just ridiculous, the time odds mean very little whereas draw odds is overwhelming. Whoever wins the toss for Black is almost sure to win, might as well skip the game. Much better to keep shortening the time limit in pairs of games, even if you end up with a string of bullet games to decide. At least it would be fair.
Komodo rules!
