2024 Moderation Election ***Update***

I think I have fulfilled my duty long enough now. It is good that someone else takes over for a change. TalkChess is no longer the main place I dwell, on the internet. So it becomes a bit of a burden to have too look at the forum frequently.

If you don't want to be moderator anymore, you can choose an alternate without an election. They are looking for a substitute, but an alternative may be hard to find. I think Andrea Manzo (@amchess) can be a good substitute for you. However, holding an election with a small number of voters does not seem reasonable at all.

I was voted in. Pretty sure I served three terms from memory.

What?! Sorry, I do not understand what you mean. I am just trying to stay current moderators. I didn't create any enemies, I just created a topic to introduce my engine. HGM supported me and a number of people (especially Stockfish members) disagreed with him.

Well what can I say.
The fact that lazySMP "engine" topic isn't closed and he isn't banned is more or less a good proof that current mod team is completely incompetent to do their work.
Aka they send me big red warnings for saying that some person post will make any reasonably smart person to facepalm because it's some sort of bad offence that is not tolerated and at the same day they call someone a clown but not closing his topic because they want to show some moral high-ground to "discord folks" or idk, maybe there is some other reason.
Definitely not following the rules they made themselves.
I can happily nominate myself to be a mod, at least I will cleanse all bullshit posting like sf troll one that has literal 0 reasons to be alive.

And these things made HGM don't want to be the moderator anymore. That's the whole story.

What I meant was that as a moderator, all that happens is you cop shit from somebody for almost every action that you take.

Would it be an idea to instate 'partial bans' as a new disciplinary method, so that the members in question would be limited to posting in the Kindergarten section? That way members with persistent malicious intent to attack others, e.g. through sneaky use of signatures or avatars, could be prevented from polluting the serious forums with their subversive activities until the start to exhibit socially acceptable behavior again.
