INCREDIBLE!!!! Now that's exciting!!! :D

A miniature game in a world chess championship!!! :shock: That was a superb reaction by Anand, and Gelfand couldn't stand the pressure of being in the lead. Amazing!!!

EDIT: Thx for posting the game, Robert.

Exciting, but equally sad that a game with so much potential was ended by a stupid blunder.
Anand will be delighted, for the rest of the match Gelfand will now have doubts about his tactical computations.

After Qxh1 the queen gets trapped! Houdini evals this as +2 for white.
1-0! Vishy is on his game today.

UPDATE: Boris just resigned.
Amazing as it can get :shock:

I predicted earlier that Anand will/must go for attacking chess today and that there is no place for stupid draws anymore....

It is a tactical mistake but I do not call it "a stupid blunder"
A stupid blunder is something that most strong players are not going to miss even without an engine.

Yeah the live commentators (both being GMs) also missed the queen getting trapped.

Since Kramnik missed a mate-in-1 it's hard to call anything an incredible blunder...

I think Qf6 is a tactical mistake,QxRh1 is a blunder because you hung the queen.

Yes but Houdini 2.0c pro evaluates 1.22 in depth 17 the 15th move gxh5
Strelka evaluates 2.68 in depth 14 the 15th move.And they say that Strelka is not good in evaluations :)

BTW it was already mate in 14 in move 35 (Chest):

35. Rxc8+ {+M14/14 0} Kg7 {-M13/13 0} 36. Rc7+ {+M13/13} Kh8 {-M12/12 0}
37. Nd7 {+M12/12} Kg7 {-M11/11 0} 38. Nce5 {+M11/11 0} Nxd4 {-M10/10 0} 39.
Nf6+ {+M10/10 0} Kxf6 {-M9/9 0} 40. f4 {+M9/9 0} Nf3+ {-M8/8} 41. gxf3
{+M8/8 0} Rb2+ {-M7/7} 42. Kh3 {+M7/7 0} g4+ {-M6/6 0} 43. fxg4 {+M6/6}
fxg4+ {-M5/5 0} 44. Kxg4 {+M5/5 0} h5+ {-M4/4 0} 45. Kf3 {+M4/4 0} Rf2+
{-M3/3 0} 46. Ke4 {+M3/3 0} Rxf4+ {-M2/2 0} 47. gxf4 {+M2/2 0} h4 {-M1/1 0}
48. Rf7# {+M1/1}

How can Gelfand miss so easy mate :)

QxRh1 is the best move and not a blunder.
after Qf2 Nc6 black cam save the queen but lose too much material.
