To many pieces blocked and pawns advanced to far.
While BL has all pawns on King side in place with major pieces
ready to attack or block whites advances.
Best .
Gerold.
I really wish we had played dxc5. I honestly think that we would be winning by now. The fork was not an issue and all our pieces were pointing along the long diagonals at the king.
Now that the move has past perhaps we could analyse it?
I think a5 is nice now because we expose any weakness in BL's flank play. It is also quite progressive (to me anyway - moving forward as Steve says).

the problem or perhaps "charm" of these type of games is that not everytime does the best move get played..but rather the move with the most votes
i stopped recommending the "a" pawn push because it got voted down so often i just gave up on it
i was none-too- happy with several moves in this game but i just deal with the cards we are played and go on from there
in a way we are all playing two games..one against BL and another where we have to deal with the move that wins the vote

Ok so i will switch my vote to a5.
White is losing this game to BL.
Maybe playing to a5 will give white
a chance to get better position on the King side.
Best.
Gerold.
What is the point behind a5? It just weakens our queenside,
Queen side is weak now. So pushing a5 will break up BL
3 strong pawns on Q side. Maybe. Also BL may have to
bring the N over to deal with Q side.
Next White pushes the d and e pawn for attack down the
middle.
I'm off to work soon, so let's leave the vote open for another 12 hrs and I'll see what has happened when I get home. I PMd Wael and Swami to see if they can vote

if no one else votes to break the tie by the time you return..you can change my vote to ...

I'd rather avoid people having to change their vote but it does become necessary if all else fails, in order to move on. Let's see if any more votes come in.
a5 is a pointless move. It puts the pawn on a less protected square where it can potentially be attacked. What is your follow up? What is the plan?
We have nothing to do in the Q-side. We have blocked black's counter-play there, now we need to push in the center and kingside and take advantage of our space and better piece placement.
As soon as we push f4, e4 and put the knights into, say, e3 and f3, c1 rook on d1 or e1, we will have a decisive advantage.

Agreed wholeheartedly. However, we have to respect that everybody will have their own thoughts, so as a team we have to take the bad with the good and vice-versa.
