Well, 2 games doesn't tell anything...
The losses are not from the book as far as I can see.
Alaric lost due to the very inmature king safety. It just don't understand the concept of King attack until it is near mate or material losses.
Something to work on until next version!
When it comes to the crashes they appear very seldom. maybe 1 of 100 games.

Hi Dr. Wael! That would be wonderful!Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:Hi,

I don't think I would get very far making a book. I have taken a look at Harry's new book for Rybka and I'm impressed with the huge number of choices in it. Even after 1. f3 d5 the book still covers six replies from White! Looks good, but using Chessbase Light 2007 nowhere could I find a way to see with what percentage a move would be played, let alone change any weights if I wished. Maybe Harry could hide those weights somehow or ChessBase Light just does not have this option. But I read somewhere else that even using move weights, the ctg books almost does not use them and just plays the move with the most games! That is if the book works as it should and does not get corrupted. All tuning is not really supposed to be done by the maker but by playing games on the server. No wonder all those people in the engine room there with their Rybkas.. I'm sorry to say but this seems unbelievably primitive for 2007 state of the art chess software. If all I read on the web is true, Chessbase should really be ashamed they can't make this better. How can people work with this? But I don't own any further software from them, so I can't judge it very well either. Polyglot with Scid in the new versions from Pascal Georges seem a much better tool! I don't know about Arena.
One day I was going to make a book for Chess960! But that will take a while..
Best, Eelco

Alaric plays well enough, even ignoring King Safety! Thanks for looking at the games Peter, these were just the first ones where I tried Günther's book with Alaric, you are right it does not tell anything and I did not play much attention to the games either. Alaric came back very well after the opening, with evals just below 0.00.
I wil play more games with the final version for sure. I'm curious how well Alaric will do, once allowed in the open! I have to look up some more about Alaric's history..
Best,
Eelco
