5.5/10 but I still think it is the worst result of chess programs against humans in the last years.

The fact that the hardware was pocket pc is not relevant because old
Rebel already got better performance against humans in the israeli league and I believe that the hardware that rebel used at that time pentium400 mhz single processor or something like that was not better

A Pentium 400 mhz should be much faster than Intel XScale PXA270 624 MHz.

Exactly,it's not the cpu clock to take under consideration here,it's the architucture of the cpu 8-)

In that case the following by alex brown was misleading:

"The Pocket PC looks like an iPaq 2790,the one with a really fast 624Mhz processor"

If this processor cannot help the pocket pc even to be at the same speed as 400 mhz pentium then it is misleading to call it fast processor because it seems that the processor is not the dominant factor in deciding if the computer is fast and the computer will have almost the same speed with 400 mhz processor because there is some other slow components that cause it to be slow.

I admit that I do not understand how the speed of the computer is decided and maybe there is another explanation when the speed is linear function of the processor speed for pocket pc machines but claims like the claim that some computer has 624 mhz processor when it is the only factor that I can read about are misleading.

Yes,in this case the cpu clock is misleading and they use this trick to sell more devices, that's all 8-)

My quote was not misleading, as it should be taken in context with regard to Pocket PC speeds. All I was implying is that this is as fast as PPC's currently go at the moment without overclocking. It also should be noted that speed increases in just processor are not linear in terms of speed of chess engine.I have tested a 312mhz against a 624mhz with various chess programs and the speed up is only about 1.5.But I have also tested the old Intel PXA 250 400mhz versus the new Intel Bulverde 312Mhz and the 312mhz is about 1.5 time faster with regard to chess speed. The bottle neck in PPC's can be the Front Service Bus as a change in this can have dramatic effect. Also the Ram for HashTables plays an effect too.
But this is not what my main concern is regarding this Topic as all I am really interested in is the actual play of PF3 and what skill it has regardless of processor speed.Looking at the games nothing seems to impress me about it's play and one tournament is not enough to make a definiative conclusion. As I already said this is just a Beta version and improvements should be expected.
