Rybka wins - better book than Zappa.
Rybka's main advantage is probably a better engine
We do not know nothing about the book and have no basis for opinion that rybka's book is going to be better.

Zappa's main chance to win is in case that zappa has better book.

Also Anthony is modest about his improvement, he didn't say a thing about the improvement he made with Zap Zanzibar (over Reykjavik) or did he?

When he says Zappa Mexico is 25 elo or 50 elo improvement over Zanzibar,it might even be 75.

I guess that evens out.Maybe Vasik has improved Rybka too?Which version of Rybka is going to play?

Regards.

When he says that he worked only 8 days to get 25-50 elo improvement I cannot consider it as modest.

commercial programmers of programs like hiarcs work a full year
in order to get that type of improvment.

playing strength of hiarcs11.1 is only slightly more than 50 elo relative to hiarcs10.

From the CEGT 40/20

53 Hiarcs 11.1 1CPU 2831 15 15 1272 53.3 % 2808 39.4 %
89 Hiarcs 10 2770 10 10 2751 50.1 % 2769 35.4 %

From CCRL 40/40

Hiarcs 11.1 2894 +20 −20 55.8% −37.6 41.5% 817
73.4%
Hiarcs 10 2836 +14 −15 49.5% +5.0 42.4% 1544

Hi Uri,

I see you do have a point.I don't disagree here, but It is possible for Zappa to be over 50 elo, about 75. But 50 elo maximum and 20 elo minimum would be the best guess.Yes,Opening book also plays the role here. But I doubt if it really adds much elo to the engine considering the opponent is Rybka with book unkown to Zappa team.

Regards.
