4.f4 is not in rybkaII.ctg that has only 4.a3 and 4.Nf3
6.0-0 is also not in rybkaII.ctg and rybka does not like this move
Rybka prefers 6.a3 at depths 10-15
7.e5 is also not in rybkaII.ctg book and rybka prefers 7.d3
The game was not played by me, (I don't even have a Rybka), but from a WBEC 40/5' test tourney that is currently running (Leo was kind enough to mail it to me). I am not sure what conditions he applies, but you can probably find that on the WBEC website.

In this case I guess that he could not use rybkaII.ctg that is not compatible with winboard and rybka was unlucky to play a bad line that gave black an advantage when it does not happen often(otherwise rybka
could not score so well in his tournaments).

I also would like to pick Xpdnt instead of Pupsi
The reason is that swami already said in another thread that xpdnet won a division.

It means that I guess the following
Xpdnet
BBchess
Joker

Uri
Xpdnt won a division in older edition-thats the fact, I said in that thread "It finished first in a division IIRC." note the use of the word 'IIRC'

if you want to pick xpdnt here, no problem but just to make sure that I meant one of the older edition in that thread, and it doesn't mean that Xpdnt won this tournament.
I still pick Xpdnt.
I did not test it but I see that some people voted for it(I did not vote
so I was not one of them) and it was another reason to pick it.

No it's not cheating. It's called doing some checking out.
There is no guarantee anybody will win with their picks.
If it's any consolation, I just look at the CCRL 40/40 list.

Regards, Graham.
Yes,Graham, you could analyze the strength of these engines with the computer by running short tournament, referring to the updated rating list, anything goes, no restrictions. :D
I have a life outside of computer chess, mainly Romi and goat. It isnt very important for me to win this tournament, though I would like to. I do refer to my own rating list, but weird things happen in a tournament with only 30 or so rounds. For example many engines placed ahead of Romichess in your previous tournament. In a head to head match Romi would annihilate most of them. Swami, you put me in a dilemma with your Xpdnt post. I guess I better go back to my first guess. NOW, Counter, Pupsi. I mean how many times can you Counter wrong NOW with Pepsi.
I think that from next edition onwards, I will most probably be running 60 rounds instead of 30 rounds tournament as the problem this edition is that I have limited holiday time and that I wanted the whole edition to get finished by the end of this month...I don't think Romi would defeat most of the engines that scored higher than it in the gaunlet...maybe some of the engines but no easily as you seem to imply.

I don't want to make confusion here,Tony. whether you want to change picks or stick with the new choice is entirely yours, what I meant in xpdnt thread was that I didn't imply that Xpdnt won this tournament and that I said Xpdnt won the tournament 2 editions ago IIRC. 'IIRC' alone should tell anyone that it was the older edition, else I wouldn't have used it...

This is the full sentence:

"No, It actually plays pretty well in my tournaments, good blitzer. It finished first in a division IIRC."

You said plays and not played and I see it as another hint that xpdnt scored well in the last tournament.

I do not know if it won the last tournament but I still guess it got one of the first 3 places.

then it means 'Xpdnt' plays well, thats limited to name of the engine regardless of the version numbers, it was in response to David's "it 'd be playing losers chess soon" that should tell you that "Xpdnt"(regardsless of version number) plays well in my tournaments, I have never hinted at newer version of Xpdnt... :)

anyway let's take the argument you present here,it contradicts too :) the tournament was already finished at the time I wrote "plays well" in that thread... so tournament should be in a past tense too, isn't it?

yep, If I remember correctly, or If I recall correctly...

I would not have used "If I recall correctly" if the tournament is finished now, as i would have known...

I should use "If I recall correctly" only for events that happened long before...that I can remember or recall such..

anyway, lets drop this and get back to tournament and the game...still the same picks?

I made myself looked like a flip-flopperstein by going back and forth. Count in my first prediction, and post the darn results.

correct but I still see it as an hint.
played is correct for all tournaments
plays is not correct but
plays is more closer to the last tournament than to other tournaments.
