Besides money, you can donate your services for SMIRF. For example, I made the spanish translation of SMIRF and got the Bonus version as a reward :)

I can translate it to Malayalam, but I doubt that anyone would need it.

OK, Smirfoglot now also supports pondering. I am currently testing it in a Joker80-Smirf ponder-on match, but from the task manager it is clear that both engines are now using full CPU all the time.

As far as I am concerned, that is it. I consider Smirfolot finished, and will only fix bugs. For those who want to add other commands: the source is downloadable from my website, and can be considered freeware. Have fun!

Hi hgm,

I have a question about Winboard_FRC. I think the graphic representation of the chancellor & the archbishop, with reduced size of the knight & the bishop is not enough clear. It would be much better to make these pieces in a form of knights: the chancellor - the knight with a rook basis, and the archbishop - the knight with a bishop basis, like here:

Is it possible ?

For the moment, the Archbishop and Chancellor are only implemented in sizes Bulky, Middling and Petite. At other board sizes they are represented as smaller R+B. But this is really only meant for Crazyhouse/Bughouse, where the C & A symbols double for R & B that are obtained through promotions. Some crazyhouse players actually prefer the demagnified versions over the new symbols, as they really move like R & B, and the distinction is only to remind you that they will revert to Pawn on capture. They can achieve this now without having to load special fonts, by simply choosing another board size. So there are good arguments for maintaining the diversity. Although I do want to implement the most basic non-FIDE pieces at more different sizes as there are now. But it is a lot of work to make all the bitmaps...

Note that there was a bug in the setboard command of Smirfoglot. I fixed it in the version that I have posted now.
