BTW,Rybka 3 finds the correct move....
h4!! regards,

Running at my already humble Core 2 Duo 2.66MHz with 256 Mb Ram,it finds the move rather quickly, under two minutes....It sticks to Rc1 in the begining though....
I find that statement remarkable, as on my Quad, Rybka 3 can't find H4, at least in the hour I let it run. It stays with RC1 throughout. Were you using Human or Dynamic?
All the engines I had run in 2 var mode had h4 at least in the second choice. Only Rybka 2.3.2a switched between Rc1 and h4 but then came back to Rc1. Fritz 5.32 also prefers rc1 and folks, unbelievable, it had the highes kN number of all. It surpassed M after a short while.

Although the whole experiment is interesting, for me it depends of the iron rule in chess, human player, that often you just cant simply say that the move is crucial.

Here it was move 41 which was the move entry in letter for the later second part. We simply dont know what Petrosjan had in mind. Perhaps he wanted to irritate Spassky who certainly had his analyses team going. So h4 is a surprise move instead of the natural Rc1.

IMO Black had a small advantage in this position and Petrosjan was famous for his solid defense and in special his very unpleasent method of making the task for the opponent as difficult as possible.
This is true,Petrosian's move was some kind of counter attack and as I wrote,Spassky felt the dander and retreated his queen to d6 immediately....
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

Hi Terry,
I used the standard Rybka 3 version,but....for analysing I set the contempt factor to 0.00 :!:
By default it's 15.....
OH, I see... thanks for the helpful info!

Contempt 15 is for playing mode in analysis is set to 0 as default.
