I know we have statistically insufficient data for an accurate rating,
but this is an estimate for now. Anybody can come back to this later
and add more data for increased accuracy.

Here are the rating estimates so far:

Code: Select all

   Ratings: WBEC Estimate Games
        Citrine Ea 1 453 4
        Citrine Be 8 453 1
        Sapphire II Ea 1 853 5
        Sapphire II Be 8 1094 8

Current Results:

Code: Select all

   Results:
           Match Score
Citrine EA 1 vs Marquis 0-2 Charles
Citrine EA 1 vs Xadreco 5.6 0-4 Charles
Citrine Be 8 vs Xadreco 5.0 0-1 Charles

Sapphire II EA 1 Xadreco 5.6 2-2 Steve Blincoe
Sapphire II EA 1 Xadreco 5.6 0.5-0.5 Charles
Saphhire II Be 8 Xadreco 5.6 4-0 Steve Blincoe perf rate (WBEC) 1253
Saphire II Be 8 Marquis 0.15 3.5-0.5 Charles perf rate (WBEC) 935=(1x1235+3x835)/4

Steve,

Lets add Yawce 0.16 (WBEC 1290) to the list. You can drop Marquis.
You can get it here:
http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/enginesindex.htm

On the left there is a box marked info pages. Move the slider down
to Yawce and at the bottom of the Yawce info page is a download
link for 0.16.

I am going to finish up the Citrine Be 8 tests.
For now, you could go on the Sapphire II level FD 3 vs Yawce.

Should be able to knock off a few games this weekend
i will assume we will be staying with 40/25Min for Yawce

Steve
even though i set the level for 40/25min in Arena ..Yawce moved every 5 seconds in the first game..not sure if this is OK for the rating project
the Sap II on level FD3 pretty much moves instantly
another significant issue is that Yawce has no book

anyway ..here is Game 1..
Sap II wins easily..increasing its win streak to 5 games(and 6 out of the last 7 games)when i am operating it
:P

For the second game i tried setting the level to "Tournament/15 Minutes In an effort to get Yawce to take more time then 5 seconds per move

made no difference ..and Yawce continued at the 5 second clip

Game 2..
The Carnage continues ..with the Sap II as Black annoucing a mate in 4
Sap II's win streak is now 6 ..and 7 from the last 8..

Game 3..
In a stunning turn of events..Yawce ...with the black pieces ....and insisting to move at 5 second clips(no matter how i set the TC)manages an early King side pawn storm winning the Sap II's Bishop..
Yawce never looked back and mates the stunned Sap II

Gentlemen
Just how weak are you looking for programs? I have a collection of chess programs written in Qbasic and several are only one ply searches. Unfortunate none use Xboard or any other automatic playing routines.
Although I not as of yet tried to offically test their strength I would guess that some start at only 200+ ELO, but as I said that is just a guess.

Hi Bill,

We are testing and measuring the performance of dedicated units
set at low levels utilizing programs with WBEC known ratings.

I guessed that the weakest level would be 600-800. For
one machine that is not holding true. For the other levels, they seem
to be progressing at about 200 Elo per ply.

We may need some weaker programs when I or we go back to testing
the Citrine at level EA 1. You could help us if you have any dedicated
units?
