17TH AMATEUR SERIES (Division 2)

Intel Q6600 Quad Core
ChessGUI
128mb hash each
3-4-5 piece tablebases
Ponder off
HS-Large Remis book (limited to 12 moves)
40 moves in 32 minutes repeating (adapted for the CCRL)
4 cycles 44 rounds
All engines 32-bit 1CPU
The top engine will gain automatic promotion and the bottom engine will face automatic relegation. The fate of the second top and second to bottom engines and perhaps others will be determined by grading matches before the next series.

There was a time when Scorpio was a bit stronger than Crafty, but now ... :o
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Just "get busy". :) I've not see any program that can't improve. It isn't always easy, but it is always possible. :)

Congratulations on Crafty's win here Bob.
I can remember when Crafty used to have a very strange playing style that I didn't like (way back). Now it has both an attractive style of play plus it is very strong. Well done. :D

I am seconding.

Which version of Crafty do you test, Graham? PS or JA ?
Or special CCRL build ?

Critter's second place is a real surprise for me,
since Bison 9.11, esp. x64 version is very strong.

And something wrong with the bottom, Scorpio 2.3.
I really hope new beta 2.3.2 would do much better.
