Nice work! Critter is really strong. In a match Houdini 1.5a x32 vs Critter 1.2 x32, Critter got 22.000 TB hits! I enabled "Use everywhere" option and Critter won the game. Houdini had a huge advantage, he had a mobile bishop, while Critters fianchetoed bishop was blocked by pawns. But after TBs kicked in Critters advantage spiked! Almost instantly after his move he got 2 pawn of advantage.

Well, one cannot ignore the preliminary results by IPON, so possibly there is some undiscovered bug holding it back in matches?
Maybe it just does not like pondering :)
There is a lot of stuff one could do during opponent's thinking time - to have a snack, go to bathroom, or just think about non-chess stuff such as girls, soccer and so on... :)
It has moved up significantly since I last noticed it, but I think it's still under-rated.

Which compiler are you using for the release version?

thanks a lot for thin new version.
It is verry nice that you are still developing this great engine!
Do you have any "idea" if it is stronger than Critter 1.01?
Any results?

best regards, Clemens

The IPON results so far suggest that Critter is stronger than previous version

Perf=2951 after 1313 games when
Critter 1.01 SSE42 has rating of 2923(even if the calculation is wrong and it is practically only 2943 then it is still a good improvement relative to previous version)

Unfortunately I do not have access to a Mac. In our country they are not very popular (OTOH iPhones do sell like hotcakes). We need to find some volunteer to compile a OSX binary.

Thanks!
Currently playing it at 30 minutes 40 moves.
I will try to get what is my desideratum against strong engines, a draw or a defeat not before 40 moves...
