Re: Ethereal - question
Calm down guys, version 13.50 is early access. It has not been released, and it has a possible bug Andrew is working on to fix

Re: Ethereal - question
This is correct.
There were a tiny number of time losses in testing, so Andrew is trying to find out why before general release.
This will not only make him feel happier, but will prevent having to fix the issue post release.

Re: Ethereal - question
Indeed. Rating lists got a version early, as is customary I believe. It would be nice to have Ethereal 13.50 on a rating list before I offer to sell it to anyone, that way you don't just go off of my regression tests alone.Graham Banks wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 8:28 pmThis is correct.

Also, doing this allowed me to find a very rare crash, thanks to some help from Ray. So I saved everyone from getting a 2nd update email immediately after the first.
Files for existing customers are uploaded. Emails are waiting to be sent. I will send them soon, do not worry.

Re: Ethereal - question
Are you for real?
If Ethereal is released and soon a bug is discovered, you'll complain about lack of testing
If Ethereal is tested before being released to discover bugs, you complain about testers getting a pre-release

Re: Ethereal - question
Hi Andrew,
engines with status "private available" will not test by myself.
Same for engines are a short time private available "for rating systems" a programmer like.
So from my part of view latest Ethereal version on my new KI-Rating system will be 13.25!
An other problem I have with the view on my engine-overview:
https://www.amateurschach.de/main/_engines.htm
I think a new status can solved the problem:
*6" = for a short time private available for Rating systems the programmer like.
This can solved the problem!
I will do that I think.
Good luck with Ethereal 13.50 ...
More and more childrens like what different programmers do.
Kindergarten!
from Open Source on github with big comments about "Open-Soruce engines" to a commercial engine to a private available engines for rating-systems ... the programmer seems to have a problem with different things nobody know.
Best
Frank
A good idea can be if Rating system will give the name:
Ethereal 13.50 dev. as name for the engine.
In this case all is more easy for others and I can test Ethereal too.
Again, I have all the time the rules that I am not testing "Private available" engines.
Dev. versions from available engines are OK for me for programmes need a test before release!
Here I am helping since 30 years.

Re: Ethereal - question
Hi Andrew,
ah, for "6" I have an other status.
I added the hint with *7 on my engine overview.
Good luck for Ethereal and your new version.
I am watching the results by CEGT & CCRL.
First 1+1 results will be for sure fast available.

Best
Frank
