This is the first such report. Are you playing games on a server over the internet, or just on your own computer? The default overhead should be plenty for games played on your own computer, but we do recommend raising it for server games on the internet, at least double it in that case to 100 ms and keep raising it if necessary, until forfeits stop.
The games were played in my computer (Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz, Ram=32GB) Threads=8, using Fritz 18.
Was it just one game lost on time out of a big number, or multiple losses? We did have one other report of a single game lost on time in a CCC event. We'd like to figure out what is the cause so we can fix it.

2 games loss on time in a 6 game span
Thanks, this should be helpful, although there is no obvious similarity between the two time losses.

I ran a 100 game match here: forum3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=79826&p=925344#p925344 with no time losses.

And no reported issues here: https://www.sp-cc.de/nn-vs-kd-testing.htm AFAIk

Strange.

I've had a small number of time losses (less than 5) in the roughly 1000 games I've run for CCRL 40/15.

Any common element to the time losses (GUI, or number of threads. or very long games...)? If we can't find a cause, we may just increase the default overhead ms a bit in the next release.

From memory, they happened a move or so before the time control.

Fritz 0 wrote: Sun May 01, 2022 3:20 pm And another unexpected thing - in a 1500 game match Dragon 3 Elo 2600 (which should be accurate as verified by GM Lenderman) lost to Komodo 14.1 level 23 by 209 ELo! Even compressed by 25% it is still over 150 Elo difference. Is it possible that Komodo 14.1 level 23 is 2750 rapid?!
I'am an idiot. It wasn't Komodo level 23, but 24. One mouse click instead of two. That explains everything.

Dragon 3 (There is also a CB version) is a dubious engine, partly sick (see evals)! Get dubious draws on ChessBase Server PlayChess!

Look at the evals - and then this engine gets a draw - although my engine has a clear advantage after 12 moves - I also set the GUI Fritz 18 to "newer draw". Only this game went like that, all games before that against all other opponents not so strange.

Eduard wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 12:11 pm Dragon 3 (There is also a CB version) is a dubious engine, partly sick (see evals)!

I will ignore Dragon players on PlayChess.

I do not know who is white but white is not default dragon3(maybe the user did some changes in personality to produce strange evaluations and strange low depths.

I analyzed the position in move 12 with Dragon3 and I do not see a draw score and it get depth 19 in less than a second so do not expect me to believe dragon got only depth 12 after 8 seconds.

Re: Komodo Dragon 3 Released by KomodoChess

Post by Eduard »

The whole game was very strange. With Dragon, there's always some weird stuff happening on the server. In this player's account name you can read: "my best engine is Dragon 2.5". This can only be a joke, sorry.

What annoys me is: The server drew this game on move 12, even though my GUI is set to "never draw". In addition, I'm clearly better in the game, so the server can never automatically give a draw like that. Apparently some people work with tricks and apparently the Dragon Engine is good for such things. That disgusts me.
