Agreed. It feels like white is playing without a g2 pawn.
However, if one is prepared with nuances of grob attack lines, they can manage, albeit with the players lower rated.

1.Na3? is also pointless. I believe it is worser than a4.
With a4 white atleast has shown commitment to castling on king side, and playing on the queen side later on.

Between Na3 and g4, I cannot decide which is the worst.

You made a good point 1Na3??... The Sodium Attack and Nh3??... are horrible first move, I will have to let Komodo Dragon play 10 games with each against a lower rated engine like I did before Koivisto with the 1. g4??... Grob's Opening

Sodium Attack 1.Na3 ?! ==>
1. Na3 ?! Played by Carlsen ==>
Carlsen wanted to Troll his Opponent with 1. Nh3?? ==>

Nh3 is not bad compared to Na3.

With Nh3 I can actually castle faster and build fortress around the king side.
Many stronger players are playing Nh3-g3-Bg2-f3-Nf2 followed by castle. It kind of gives King's Indian vibes.

With Na3, that kind of set up is not at all possible.

Here is another game of the 1. Na3?! Sodium Attack Played by Carlsen

The bottom line is, if you are a few hundred points higher than your Opponent it really does NOT matter with which pawn or first move you open your game ==>

It seems it's a tactic "beyond human comprehension", there was an "immediate deterioration of the position" after the losing move was played. A key position is beyond the engine's horizon, once it gets inside the losing move can be avoided.

I still haven't seem something like this in 16 0 games, so once 5 0 games reach the strength of 16 0 engine chess will die.

I have no experience with it but I think the Idea is to play c4 and move the knight to c2, b3, Bg2 can be played, the queen moves somewhere and the king long castles and we hope the opponent castles kingside.

Nowhere as bad as 1.g4.

I guess stockfish is not unbeatable also in 16 0 or even in 90+30 time control but I agree that it is not very interesting if we get 99.9% draws.
The solution can be to start from unbalanced positions or maybe to increase the size of the chess board.

What happened to the idea of getting rid of draws by making it so black can't castle but a draw is a black win? We just need to get enough people to jump into some solution and abandoning chess entirely.

When a higher player or engine like Komodo Dragon versus Koivisto both Opening the Sodium or Durkin's Attack 1. Na3 and the 1. Nh3 are NOT so Bad as for Koivisto to be able to beat Komodo Dragon :roll:

I guess it is NOT that bad of an Opening after all, it is a slightly bad opening starting with -0.40 but since it is White who play first it compensate. Now on the other hand, if it is Black that respond with 1.e4 Na6?? or 1.e4 Nh6?? it is a complete disaster for Black even if it is Stockfish playing Black versus a lower rated engine like Berserk or SlowChess Blitz playing the White side, it will get destroyed.
Note: I believe that TCEC instead of hand-tuning the White side to always have a slightly better opening, for engines that are apart by at least 70 Elo it should experiment and give for instance Stockfish or Komodo Dragon 3.0 1.Na3 ?... or 1.g4? Opening against weaker engines :roll:
