18.e4 seems better right now allowing our N access to e3

not sure we should even play f4 anytime soon actually

IF BL plays Nb7 or Nf7 next ..if we play f4 .. its Qb8 and it is the roaring Lion that will have its own pawn storm underway with g5 after our g3 ..leading to a very tactical game with chances on both sides
might be better to consider Ne3 next depending on the Lions next move

I can't see much difference.between the two moves in the current position.
I'll opt for 18.e4 at this stage.

OK, e3-e4 it is then. This isn't a ponder hit, so I'll get back to you later with BL's move

After reading your post I now think f2-f4 was the better move ;) , not weakening black squares and inducing stupid knight jumps, say, to f5.

i get the impression you have some sort of attitude and this is not well placed in a game like this which is supposed to be a friendly game

The forum's move
19. Nc2-e3.

Complete control of middle. Strong on King side.

Best.

I'll make a deal with you Gerold. If we play Ne3 now, can we play a5 as the move after?

:)

Negotiations in progress regards

That would depend on BL reply to Ne3.

a5 is a move that has to be played sometime,.
When is the question.
Nd2-f3 looks good also.

Best.

For god's sake, no :)

After you pointed out Qb8 I saw that black has some kind of blockade on black squares, temporarily denying us f2-f4. For that reason, I think, f2-f4 first would have been more precise.
