No thank you. Issuing multiple versions with every minor change and imagined improvement is only confusing.
Hey, I worked the whole weekend, apparently, on this version :o And the changes in the SE version are also very minor, if you check the code. But you are right I do not know how strong this Beta is. Computer vs computer games is not the most important to me, analysis is more my interest.

I know the choice of engines is awfully big. I don't understand why everbody wants to have these inferior Russian clones anyway? Why bother with it? But anyway here are the two very first games Toga played just now:

I thought Toga played a nice exchange sac there at the end :) Admittedly not a positional exchange sac like Robin Smith is looking for, but still a nice finish.

Hello Eelco,

sure that I am interested in your changes! Well, if they dont bring 100 points, they can still be fun testing :-)

Looking forward to it

I'm also interested in this version, specially the "wilder version" part :)

Hello Peter, Ulysses, Gabino and Werner,

Thanks very much for all your reactions! It is much appreciated! I think the project will continue, but right now it may take a few days before I post a compile because I have to clean up the code a little bit, insert the Toga Checkov settings in the source code as defaults I think and then I think I'll have to do at least some testing which version could be better. Right now, I have a version that does better on the Arasan tactical test, and another that played in the testgames above and that has a small change that maybe brings some benefit in games.

Unfortunately it is not so good in the Arasan test overall, it scored only 162 positions where the best version scores 173 and I think that is too much of a difference to trust it will not matter much in games. Hiarcs is out of reach in the Arasan 7 test, I believe HIARCS 11.1 scored 181 positions under the same conditions, that is the best program I have at least for this test!

But I was happy with the Alekhine - Sterk result of this only Toga Checkov Beta 3f version that has played any testgames so far, it set a new all time record of only 15 seconds!

Hi Werner, of course we would all like to see the MP version of Toga but it is still being tested as far as I know and I can't do any testing of MP capabilities myself, so I would be in the dark as to what changes I could make to that version, if you can't test it it is not much use speculating what works and what does not work. :o But I hope the MP version is more stable now, can you say if maybe the CEGT is already testing anything?

My Friendly Regards to All,

Hi George, thanks for your interest! I just finished the first Toga Checkov Beta version that has the settings already changed in the default, you could also just try those settings of course because my compiled version is not as fast as those made by Denis Mendoza for Toga II 3.2.1 SE.

But my version can be downloaded from the CCRL forum here! I hope you can use WinRAR to decompress it, if not I could add a zipped version for instance.

Changes in the source code apart from the settings are so far very minor.

Wow! :D That looks not so bad, thanks Gabino, it really is better than I expected! I think this Toga does sometime play a bit risky, so I am even surprised at the number of draws it managed to make here :) Could you maybe say something about the timecontrol and the opponent(s) Gabino? And is the Toga II 3.1.2SE MP a compile by yourself, could you maybe say something about it?

Regards,
Eelco
