Since g6 is a nailed on certainty for our next move it may be wise to consider what comes next.

There are only 6 plausible replies to g6.

(1) 18. Bxg6

We have equalised at least in this forced line.

18. Bxg6 hxg6 19. Qxg6+ Bg7

(2) 18. Qh6

This move leads to a dead draw if we want it. The line starts.....

18. Qh6 Ra5

(3) 18. Qe2 & (4) 18. Qh3

These moves lead to the same thing via......

18. Qe2 Be5
18. Qh3 Qc7

(5) 18. Qc5

This allows us to follow our theme of a5 and a4......

18. Qc5 Ra5! =

(6) 18. Qg4

The most likely move from the R30.

18. Qg4 Qc7 19. Kh1 Rf7 (dark bishops come off in this line)

or

18. Qg4 Qc7 19. Be4 Ra5 (light bishops come off in this line)

In all lines we avoid swapping queens at least for the foreseeable future.

My move ... g6

because it loses slower than all others.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Wow! how was this allowed?
I havn't been over this 24 hours a day recently, and it's surprising to find this position!
The forum must have been playing without computer aid!

......g6 then the obvious idea of Bg6, is probably not that risky (of material deficit), even without calculating.
