The 2,000knps of the iPhone 6s is the most impressive because it's just dual core 1.84ghz .
An interesting comparison is My Intel corei3 Haswell dual core Laptop at slightly higher 1.9ghz frequency. At 64bit BMI2 configuration achieved only 1,600knps! Considering that we are comparing mobile vs laptop chip makes Apples ARM CPU very impressive.
I foresee Apple to replace its INTEL line of products with their own powerful ARM design in the future.

I may be wrong but it's more about software efficiency with the processor. Ios is well optimized with the A8x chip. If TouchWiz was as optimized as ios then the galaxy s6 and note 5 would blow the iPhone out of the water. Although standard Android programming is JAVA, the Stockfish engine is programmed in C++ with native compilation so it runs as efficient as possible in any platform may it be iOS, Android or PC because it's unaffected by the lags of Garbage Collection and Just-in-time compilation.h1a8 wrote:I may be wrong but it's more about software efficiency with the processor. Samsung just do the manufacturing but the design is done by Apple. one major reason for apples speed is the big cache. other cpus dont have such a big cache on board.

I know. Apple's chip is more than twice as fast per core when frequency is matched. Many Snapdragons: 16+16K > Disaster
Exynos: 32+32K> good
Apple A series: 64+64K > Very good
Expected but n/a yet: 128+128K > Perfect
Check L1 before cores and hertz when you wanna buy some other mobile cpu for chess and certainly stay away from 16K.
