thats right
he did the right thing to create his own forum and then of course he can hawk Rybka till kingdom come for all i care

initially however when Rybka was first released for sale he hawked it big time here

i initially objected then and i was greeted with the same response i am getting now'

then IIRC correctly Hyatt started to get fed up with all of the marketing hype and then Rajlich took the hint and created his own site

Absolutely right - and you know I bet Vas doesn't give a toss about the money. It will be a matter of principle for him
some principal

trying to debate his way into a match held by a corrupt organization

principal would be to BOYCOTT such an event especially if he does not need the money as you say,,but somehow i doubt that he does not need it

again not even close Ray

there is no commercial interest whatsoever in my playing matches against old Hiarcs programs
we do it for FUN and enjoyment

indeed most of the matches were against versions of Hiarcs that were given away for free !and i suspect most of those free downloads went to members here ..such as H.01 AND H.03
FREE

your completely off the point

as to being anti-Rybka..
no i am anti-commercial exhortation and if Hiarcs posted a message like that (or any other PC engine marketing team for that matter) then i would be having the same running debate here with 25 members coming at me from all angles

as far as Harvey backing me up

i cant remember the last time you CCRL boys didnt cover each others back

DO YOU?

I do not understand when you write about corrupt organization.

Steve B wrote:ITS not even close

i am not the one selling any of the computers on Ebay
people i dont even know are selling them

as far as i know Rajlich's who made the initial post programmed and markets Rybka

if someone unrelated to Rybkas programming and marketing teams made a post with information about the Fide match(which is already 30 days old BTW)and the Rybka counter-challenge then i would have no issue with it

Steve
Forbiding Vas to post it only because he is in the rybka team will have practically no effect on the content of the messages here.

I will have no problem to post information like that in the hypotetical case that a commercial programmer asks me to do it and in this case you will even not know that the programmer asked me to do it.

Alkelele wrote:Steve, please take a look at this thread from the Rybka forum:

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... l?tid=1126

Then try to compare that thread with the thread here and ask yourself these questions:

1) Which thread contains the most interesting discussions with regard to this $100.000 challenge?

2) Did your posts in this thread help or prevent interesting discussions from taking off?

3) What could be the reason that the Rybka forum is far more interesting for readers interested in computer chess than the CCC forum these days?
1)actually the proper place for Rybkas counter challenge is in the Rybka forum
seems like just common sense to me

2)i doubt my posts about this either hampered or spurred further discussion.most know i am not interested in PC engines and therefore probably dont give a hoot as to my opinion on the subject(even though i consider this a discussion about the charter and not about any Particular engine PER SE)

3)well i cant agree that his forum is more popular then the CCC
BUT even if it is it is probably because for now he has the top engine
lets see how popular the forum is when Rybka is no longer the best(if ever)

for my ten years of posting here i have seen top engines come and go and along with it the adoring fans
