Restriction? By whom for whom? I think there ought to be no restrictions, just a desire to do interesting work. Any restrictions that get in the way should be discarded.

If you have an interesting search innovation, sure. In fact, testing multiple different engines all with the same net is very interesting. It might even form the basis for a competition.
