I was not lazy, and installed Win 7 ultimate 64 bit today.
Sadly nothing has changed...

But dont be upset. That gives us another option to try.
Installing Linux! Just for the testing purposes.
What do you think about this option? Is there a Linux distro
that can handle 8x or your system?

Yes, you can try Linux Live-CD without install:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
Click on "Alternative download options, including Ubuntu installer for Windows" -> 64-bit version
After boot, you can download crafty 23.1 source, compile and test.
