One question about the skill levels: am I supposed to use the komodo.bin opening book with this or no opening book?

Hm, okay, with book or not the reply to 1.e4 is 100% Caro-Kann (c6) or Sicillian (c5), also on skill level 10, which apparently equals Elo 1000. I feel such openings do not reflect beginners.

Sorry, my bad: that's true when using komodon.bin only. Without it, there's more variety.

This is correct, It will allways play 1.e4(50%) or 1.d4(50%) as first move, and answer 1.e4 with 1...c5 (78%) 1...c6 (22%). This book is maybe designed for comp.-comp. games.
I can send you the books I use if you want to play against dragon, I have made them by compilation of Lichess games, or rather Liches's opening explorer. I have books upto 1600, 1800 2000, 2200 and 2500 aprox. fide rating. With Dragons limiting of moves I thing the 1600 book should be usefull for all levels below 1600.

Yes, I have such books as well (though not for different ratings which is quite nice). But which depth do you allow?

I have not specified length in the book, but Dragon limit the book length on lower depth, I don't know how it is done for these latest versions. For earlier version if I rembember correctly it was something like 0 moves for level 0, 1, and 2 then one move extra for each level.

For my book it is made (automatic) with collecting number of times each move have been played from Lichess' opening explorer. I can select number of times played, first move % played, rest of the moves % played. For the 1600 book the selection is made by 1. 500 times or more, 2. move played at least 1%, 3.First move played at least 1%.
All books except for the 2500 book are made with only selecting rapid and classical games.
Selecting f.ex 1600 on liches will select players from 1600 upto 1800. I take it as 1800 Lichess is approx. 1600 fide.

Well, as far as I understand the documentation, this only applies to OwnBook (Komodo.bin). Maybe LK can clarify.

Yes, you use other book as 'ownbook' too, you specify in the uci parameter from the GUI what own book means. Eg. replace 'Book File=komodo.bin' with whatever book you want to use as 'ownbook', it just have to be in polygloth format.

Ah, got it, that makes a lot of sense. Are your books available for download anywhere?

I have them only on my machine, I try to find a place to let them live on the Internet later.
I added the 1600 book as an attachment, it didn't let me attach all books (file too big).

Edit:
Sorry it gave me error on this file too : Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

I find a place later this night.
