Hi Bigler,
It's not a "pawn" odds. It's a "point and draw odds". Simply meaning Rybka has to get 13 points out of 24 to win. With 12.5 out of 24 Rybka will lose.

Steve
It's of interest to the general computer chess community which is us.

What's your opinion on this post?

perhaps Graham if you were footing the bill here only to see others get free adverstising from your money then you might view commercial exhortations a bit differently

as far as the post
i see a game being shown where Hiarcs beat Rybka

and then i see other posts in that thread showing more games ?

i see no overt mention of money or prize funds etc etc

Steve
Free advertising needs no mention of money or prize funds.
Please note that I was okay with Harvey's post also, even though the mods received complaints about it.

Regards, Graham.
let me take this opportunity to say this will be my last post on the subject(i can hear the cheers coming from the membership at large)
i simply cant take on everybody all at once

getting too old for that sort of thing

Exhausted Already Regards
Steve

Aw Steve don't give up (though personally I don't agree) I usually have to pay money for this good of entertainment.

i try to be philosophical about these sorts of things Rick

at least i got everyone to agree on something which is fairly rare for this place

:)

i got pretty much the same reaction when Rybka was first released and i objected to the overt marketing here
the mass of members all joined hands(singing kumbaya) and decried my objections

then Hyatt weighed in and a hush came over the crowd

soon after..the overt marketing stopped

Cutting Egde Regards

I guess if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. :)

It's not like we're being flooded with overt marketing.
If and when that happens, I will complain, too. But not if it's as little as it has seemed to be at least in the past weeks.

and yours by me Dave

i guess another philosphical way of looking at this thread is that even though it got pretty intense and many got involved at no time did any one insult anyone else nor was there ever a question as to locking or deleting the thread(or at least i dont think there was a question of doing that)

which i must admit i am happy about
after all..i know alot the members here for a long time and i am glad things did not go below a certain threshold

Best Regards
