OPEN..you need to register to post anywhere but can read anything without registering

Conclusion ...OPEN is great for Unregistered Lurkers

2)CCC.The moderators are elected every six months by the membership
Open..Mods are appointed by the owner of the site who is also the Uber Mod

Conclusion..any hope that the general membership can have some input into their sites current and future direction
can be "checked" at the OPEN coat room door when you first walk in
please take your coat room ticket..please have a seat
thank you very much..

now ..
I ask you..
Which difference is tiny and which is huge??

Unregistered Lurkers vs Members Regards
Steve
LOL ....Lurkers??? Whats to hide is the whole point? Big difference. Then you add in something being censored for no FOUND reason...in fact just the opposite. Leaves a bad taste in ones mouth here.

Open Chess supports chess players....CCC supports commercial and sponsors...you figure out whats better.

The CCC supports no particular commercial product
in fact ..our charter(the same one copied and pasted by OPEN)
specifically prohibits commercial exhortations of any kind
im guessing you did not even read the charter because i imagine those sort of things probably don't interest you

the Prior mod team allowed all discussion and eventually links
then only five months ago..new elections came and 3-4 top vote getter's were candidates who stood for the same principles as the prior team
sadly members of the duly elected team then abdicated their posts to go start a new forum ..and with only one month to go until new elections at that
the team was elected ..indeed replied upon .. and entrusted by our members ..to stay the course and at the end of the day ..cut an run
while i certainly do not support a forum that cannot be read by unregistered lurkers (hidden forum) neither do i support a hidden CTF
however i do not see this as a big issue
you register you read everything
you need to register to post on Open
is this censorship?

in a nutshell
the forum was mismanaged by the very mods elected to moderate and then they split to start a new forum

very honorable stuff
NOT Regards

What I find disappointing is that some of you are very happy with the new more liberal forum, yet still come back to bitch and moan and stir up trouble here.
If one can't respect the rules of both forums separately, surely it's best to just stick with the one you prefer.

Cheers,
Graham.

Hi Graham,

As you and Chris and I are members also at Exactachess it seems it doesn't depend on us...

Links are not allowed to Ippo and family, yet discussion is fine. How does that equate to heavy censorship?

Cheers,
Graham.
Simple.

1. There is zero justification for not allowing links. Anyone can find them online, so going "ostrich" doesn't do a thing.

2. Moving discussions to a less-open forum hides them from the general public, and posts tend to go MIA there as well.

I find it hard to believe that _one_ person becomes so obsessed with stamping out any discussion about IP* and family. Yet has no problems with a proven derivative being discussed at length (Rybka 1 and most likely later versions).

No matter what evidence is offered in the fruit->rybka discussion it is not enough, yet whatever evidence is offered in the Rybka->IP* discussion is only acceptable if it suggests copying, evidence countering this view is never enough.

If only there were consistency.

The bigger problem is simply moving, deleting, locking helter-skelter.

Discussion is fine. Links are not. How often does this need to be repeated for you?

I think..no, I know Bob knows the ins and outs of CCC far better than you, Graham. Give it a rest.

The Ippo links don't violate the charter even if thery're dubious in nature.

Legally they're fine. Ethics is a separate issue. You can't delete them or move them due to your personal feelings or principles.

I don't like them but if I were modrating I wouldn't move or delete the links, especially at this stage of the game.
