a bug in the levels (level g7) is a bug in the levels.

if you overstep time in a blitz game, you lost the game.

Why doesn't the weakest chessplayer in this whole forum point out how insane this last move was 59...rf8, and, even more surprising, how you are not ashamed (I mean, who ever can put up any game with a program who can do this) to show a game with a program who can answer this with 60.Qf4?

Do my eyes decieve me? Or am I just the fool here who takes the bait by bothering to comment?

I don't know if you are a fool or not, but I certainly wouldn't call you
polite. I received insults about my work years ago on my program
NoonianChess, but I believe I don't deserve your insults about Telepath.
I doubt the Spracklens deserve your insults either.

But, lets see if you are right!

I loaded the game into Rybka 2.3.2a mp 32 bit version and ran it on
the position where Telepath chose Rf8. After 20 ply of search (which
took 23 minutes in multipv mode), Rybka (the current World Champion)
shows the best two moves as Rf8 and Rf6.

The World Champ agrees with Telepath. I think I'll enjoy that
compilment.

Now, for your insult to the Spracklens and Thorsten.
At 18 ply, Rybka claims the best move is Kg2 and scores it +0.28.
That means white is ahead by 28% of a pawn - meaning draw. It
claims Qf4 is the 6th best move and scores it +0.27 - very little
difference. So, I let Rybka churn on Qf4 a little longer. After 23 ply
of search, Rybka scores Qf4 as +0.28. That is the same score as
Kg2.

So, the data says the Spracklens don't deserve your insults either.

Now, lets give you another chance. Lets test your move suggestion of
Rxc6 instead of Qf4. At 25 ply, Rxc6 is scored (by Rybka) as -0.65.
That means black is ahead by 65% of a pawn. So, the score went from
white being slightly up by 28% of a pawn to being down 65% of a pawn.
That is a step in the wrong direction by 93% of a pawn.

Score: Charles/Telepath +1, Spracklens/Thorsten +1 and S. Taylor -3.

I have a suggestion for you: Check your data before you insult people
and their work. I can take an insult if you are right, but the data says
you are not in this case.

There are several GM level programs available today. It would have
taken very little time for you to test your thoughts before you let loose
with the insults.

I don't think Rf8 is a weak move, infact It is good and before you doubt my ratings, I do a have a (average)2300's at Playchess.

The idea is to support the f pawn, then plan Kh7 - Bh6 and control the dark squares. It's a closed position, so weak squares and strong squares, pawn structures play an important role!

If not Rf8, White will break open the f-file by pushing up the pawn to g4, the after further trading, Black will have the weak squares and pawn structure mess.
