For the Symposium, it could be neat to have a display of old HW in chronological order: history on display. I know there a lot of dedicated chess computer collectors in the world and Europe. Thorsten Czub has a very nice collection.pijl wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:39 pm We are delighted to announce that the 2024 World Computer Chess Championships will be held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, October 19-24. The WCCCs will be co-located with the European Conference on AI (ECAI) 2024. This is the 50th anniversary of ECAI.
Exciting news:
* This will be the 50th anniversary of the first WCCC -- Stockholm 1974.
* We have a major sponsor for the WCCC events.
* Sponsorship includes prize money for each of the three WCCC tournaments, as well as travel and hotel subsidies for program entries.
* This will be the last WCCC. After 50 years, it's time to declare success. The WCCC started out with ELO 1600 programs and today we have ELO 3600 programs. It's time for a celebration...
* The WCCC will include a special half-day event: Chess: History, Experiments, and Search Symposium (CHESS). We will invite to Spain as many of the early pioneers of computer chess, some of whom participated in Stockholm 1974! We will celebrate the past, present, and future of chess, computing, and AI.
I hope you can join us.

That would be an interesting.hgm wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 9:40 pmI have no doubt that you are right about that. No matter what the law is, people can always break it. The question is, could you sue the Stockfish representative that said "no" for breach of contract?Peter Berger wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 9:34 pmYou probably know these guys better than me. My personal guess: if there is a "no" by whomever represents Stockfish, there won't be a "yes" by the ICGA. I may be wrong, and I understand how this question is interesting in principle.

Akin to a drunken homeless man upset that Steve Jobs won't give him the time of day.
When you can't win an argument, you censor it.
When you can't win an election, you remove your opponents.
Just because you've been doing something for a long time, does not mean you are any good at it.

Not now that he is dead, no. But I am sure Steve Jobs was a civilized man, so your comparison is rather misplaced.

May 31, 2024 12:18 pm Stockfish - ShashChess comparison by cloc
