this is a good thread to keep alive with posts of expensive chess computers being offered or sold on Ebay

here we have a good condition Fidelity Prestige with the original pieces and the PC book opening's II Module

just over $1350 with three days to run yet..

up next...

this ho hum Excel Mach 68000

i wonder what the rabid bidding on this one will bring in?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0134305010
well they are already starting in with the Mach 1
$105 with more then 7 days to go(as i write)
this time however the bidders list is not hidden and i suspect the same bidders for the Mach III will bid on the I

and we might as well mention this Tasc R30 with SB20 auction as well
$750 with less then 2 days to go(as i write)

the Tasc R30 for some reason has seen more phony Ebay auctions then all other phony schachcomputer auctions combined
this one looks legitimate though

no mention if it is V2.2 or V2.5 of the King Program
also it is missing the original box for the unit as well as the velvet pouches for the pieces

the manual in the photo looks like a photo copy to me

the bidders list is comprised mainly of well known collectors most of which i am sure already have an R30
so i am guessing they are bidding here on speculation to buy and then sell for a profit

perhaps he does not know about another version?

And with "Stoffbeutel" he could mean the velvet pouches...

The Prestige sells for just under $2000
the bidders list is made up of several well known collectors
this surprises me somewhat as one would think that these guys already had a Prestige

Startled Regards

the prestige is rare. and it is a very very big machine.
i hope they don't try to send this thing with mail. the renaissance is small against the prestige IMO.

perhaps in Europe Prestige was rare
but here in the US it was very easy to acquire if you had $1000 in 1982

i do understand that the machines are maybe in MINT condition (and that this is very rare) and that the guy is a nice collector. on the other hand i wonder a little.

to me it looks a little that somebody really tries to get the most out of things.
