Computer Chess Information
I am an Authentic Science Research student who is researching if a beginner at chess defeat a personal computer. I just was in search of different names of professionals in the field of Computer Chess. This information would be greatly helpful for my research as I am in search of a mentor.

It might be more usefull to ask your questions here and see who replies.
That's what's the forum is for: Help people when they need it.
Being a mentor is more like holding your hand to guide you. Most here don't have the time or willingness to do that.
Specially not the professionals (well, unless you pay them)
Cheers,
Tony

Oh, and to shorten your research: A beginner will not defeat a chessprogram (running in normal mode) period.
Not worth the research/time.
"Can a beginner draw a chessprogram" is at least a more interesting question. Winning requires more skills, drawing might be possible if ....

Re: Computer Chess Information
You have to be a bit more specific. What information are you looking for? Chess-playing software? Databases of Computer vs. Human games? Ratings of Chess engines?
There are plenty of engines that can be beaten easily by a Human beginner (even blindfolded). Pos 1.14 even has some difficulty beating a random mover...
For a good collection of engines that includes the very weakest, see the sites of 'WBEC', 'Chess War' or 'Fou Numerique' (Systeme du Suisse, top 500). You can google on those terms, they will be amongst the top hits.

Hi,
but what is a beginner ?
A human can learn very fast, in 10 games learn enough to beat a weak programme. But in 10 games nobody could learn enough to beat a strong programme. Your question could be how quick a human can learn and improve his chess strength, maybe ?
