I would like to get together three collections of games in three separate .pgn files:
1) Games where both players have an ELO in the range [2390, 2410]
2) Games where both players have an ELO in the range [2290, 2310]
3) Games where both players have an ELO in the range [2190, 2210]
The collections do not have to have all games in - there will probably be quite a lot - but (zipped) collections of more than 500 would be good.
Potential or actual contributors can find me via www.tinyurl.com/law6k
Thank you in advance - Guy

Re: Request for help: collections of games
There are some database products like CB.'s Big Database, now with 3.75 mio games or even the one which usually is included with Fritzes, is also quite big, of course there are also comparable databases from other companies. Someone who has one of these, can easily provide the requested collections. (I have only one very old Big DB.)

But of course I am now curious, what purpose these collections would serve for. I notice they cover a range of 20 Elo points each, and the gaps between the 3 groups are 80...120 Elo. My guesses would be that it is about (different?) opening choices, or about to determine the tactical accuracy of the players comparing their moves to computer analysis, or something like that.

The motivation is your second pick, Mike. I am interested in analysing human[choices at different ELO levels when compared with the choices of hopefully-better chess-engines.
The requirement that both players are in the same band is an efficiency one: both sides would be being played by a notional player in their respective band.
I ask for help because my ChessBase 7 is not working on my PC, and I can't see how to dump a set of filtered files (which I can do) to a pgn file anyway. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious.
