To what extent will the release of strelka/rybka code help other engine authors to improve their code

With strelka/rybka code now released, I suspect engine authors will learn from that code and get a big step in strength. I think all this is grossly unfair to vas, but i do think it could start another revolution in chess programing.

what do you folks think?
