I think my computer is sick?

I noticed that i'm playing ok but the next day my computer starts playing bad all over again. It's all draws or losses? I'm not sure what's causing it. I reinstall the OS and reload the chess program but after maybe a week it starts doing the same thing all over again. I'm not quite sure whats wrong with it. Maybe you guys can give me some advice. Thanks.

You will have to post what your computer and os is and what
chess program you are using.
If you are using Rybka, You are most likely playing someone
with Rybka. If so you will get more draws and lose more than
you win.

Well i'm using 2 quad processors at 2.0ghz with windows xp 64bit. Now my opponents were with 2 processors and i will still losing very easily to them. Doesn't make sense. I can understand to someone with equal hardware. My books are very strong too.

If you are talking about Playchess ... please note that a Quad at 2ghz is no match for some of the very fast 3.8Ghz dual cores. Also on Playchess new lines are discovered every day against Rybka. IMHO a Quad 2Ghz machine is underpowered with what is available on Playchess.

I'm using 8 cores of 2.0ghz not just one Quad. In my openings i'm coming out almost a .5 pawn down and can't recover. Thanks.

Try playing a strong eng.vs.weaker eng.on your own computer.
Using a strong book. Like H.S. book. If you get all draws or
lose than you will know something is wrong.

Well i did something right because i think my engine has recovered. Seems to be playing strong again. I switched back to the other book that was playing bad before but now is playing good for now. I reloaded my OS and wiped the entire drive. Not sure if it worked.

I'm glad to hear you were able to straighten things out so quickly. Good thing it only took a complete clean reinstall of your OS to produce the desired effect.

It is very important to perform well on playchess.com. Engine v. Engine games online are the backbone of the computer chess community. One's self worth can only be determined by how well one's computer, book, and chess engines perform in online engine v. engine games.

I sincerely hope you are able to enjoy yourself again.
