Windows Vista and Intel Xeon CPUs

Post by Chess Gator »

Hello,

Will Windows Vista work with the Intel Xeon CPU?

I am unable to find a web page that answers this question

Thank you

Xeon is just like any other CPU. The label "Xeon" is an old labeling system which would mean that the CPU was for "servers" and thus would have additional code to allow for more than one CPU to be used. Today, with multi core CPU's the line between desktop CPU and server CPU are overlapping. There still is a different socket with a few different pin allocations for Xeon's but basically they are the same CPU so they should work with the same software as any other Intel CPU.

Thanks fellows, I contacted my local computer store and they confirmed Vista 64 bit ultimate version can run Xeons with up to 128 mg ram.
