Xeon is just like any other CPU. The label "Xeon" is an old labeling system which would mean that the CPU was for "servers" and thus would have additional code to allow for more than one CPU to be used. Today, with multi core CPU's the line between desktop CPU and server CPU are overlapping. There still is a different socket with a few different pin allocations for Xeon's but basically they are the same CPU so they should work with the same software as any other Intel CPU.
