Hiarcs must hate those openings that you picked. Isnt the score way lower than expected??

This is the version of Hiarcs thats not been updated for some 5 months i guess.. so its no surprise that shredder which was released recently could beat it...Hiarcs 12 would do better or equal i'd guessTony Thomas wrote:Hiarcs must hate those openings that you picked. OOps, in FRC shredder is indeed significantly stronger (100 points according to CCRL FRC). The score difference showed way more than the 40 or so point difference in regular list.Graham Banks wrote:Don't forget that it was an FRC match Tony.Tony Thomas wrote:Hiarcs must hate those openings that you picked. I would have expected Shredder to win as well but with a much lower score. I was thinking that this was normal chess all along, where the difference between them is rather small.swami wrote:This is the version of Hiarcs thats not been updated for some 5 months i guess.. so its no surprise that shredder which was released recently could beat it...Hiarcs 12 would do better or equal i'd guessTony Thomas wrote:Hiarcs must hate those openings that you picked. Hi Tony,
Yes at FRC Blitz Shredder 11 is more than 100 ELO stronger than Hiarcs 11.2 on one CPU.
Actually Hiarcs did a little better here than I expected - on multiple CPUs and/or long time controls it seems to close the gap a little, although with only 30 games the improvement could just be statistical variation
I expect the situation with Hiarcs 12 will be quite different - I wonder if Hiarcs 12 could manage a victory ?

If it cant, then buying it would be pointless.Spock wrote: Hiarcs 12 could manage a victory ?
According to the below table made by Tord Hiarcs indeed scales way better than Shredder. Matter of fact out of the top engines Shredder seems to have the worst scaling.
Code: Select all
Compared to Rybka 2.3.2a: +51
Compared to Shredder 11: +68
Compared to Zappa Mexico: -43
Compared to Hiarcs 11.1: +39
Compared to Naum 2.2: +18
Compared to Sjeng 2.7: +99
Compared to Junior 10.1: +50
