cm 11 selectivity 21

I was a little disappointed that cm11 sel_21 did not do better than default in rays testing. I assume my good results were due to statistical fluctiation.


I was just looking at the parameters again, and wondering if i possibly changed the wrong parameter (and really did see an improvement, accidently)

Here is what I changed

Selective Search (sel)=cm_parm sel=%i|spin|21|0|16

I assume that the first number (the 21) changes things to selectivity =21, not the last number?


The odd thing is that when i view the default parameters via fritz, default cm has a selectivity of 14.

default: Selective Search (sel)=cm_parm sel=%i|spin|14|0|16


Yet, when I view cm with selectivity set to what i thought was 21 (Selective Search (sel)=cm_parm sel=%i|spin|21|0|16), the fritz9 gui shows that selectivity is set to 16.

that is a bit confusing. Can someone replicate this issue? and more importantly, I wonder if it is selectivity 16, rather than 21, that will show the big improvements.

Under the CM11 GUI, the highest selectivity you can have is 16.

However, Johan told Cock that The King engine without the constraints of the CM11 GUI can have higher selectivity, but you need to know how to do it properly.

Any future settings I make will have selectivity 16 because I've always prided myself on having settings that can be used either inside or out of the CM11 GUI.

ok, then I am guessing htat last number in this line is the max selectivity

Thus, to really get selectivity of 21 you need to change the 16 to 21.

I think my strong results might have been with selectivity =16. I hope ray will test this.

yes 21 should have been the actual value,but the other two numbers define the range for this setting,0 through 16!
although it might work,it would have been better to use
