I didnt know that Fritz 3 had the learning feature. I am pretty sure April fool loved his joke.

I don't know if it does or not I wasn't involved in computer chess back then. I came in around Fritz 7 or 8.

My first commercial chess program was Fritz 6, it did have the learning feature and Included all previous Fritz versions.. I wasnt aware of the existence of Talkchess until 2004 and didnt sign up until Zappa won the world championship.

I still have the good old Fritz 3.0 installed on both the 486-DX2 66 and my Pentium 90-machine. Though perhaps not as potent as the hoax indicates, it recorded three wins in the most recent meetings versus the Pocket Fritz 2 XScale 400 (which Fritz 3 lost by 5-15) and Palm Hiarcs 9.6 Tungsten E (which Fritz 3 lost by 4-16). Games will follow as a bonus for anyone interested in the "golden oldie".

While testing on the 486-machine, it also caused a minor upset for the London 68030 in my tests. The dedicated Lang-module, despite its higher rating, lost the match surprisingly by 8-12. This is also especially noteworthy since the same program on a slightly faster machine (aka Genius 3.0 486DX-2 66), managed to beat the same program - Fritz 3.0 486DX-2 66, convincingly by 16.5-3.5!

Hope you all have had a nice April Fool´s! My next update of games played could for some indicate a new prankster. But as its only April Fool´s once every year, it is the true results which are shown from now on.
