It's a shame that the advertised price is so high - at 40 pounds, that is more than 3 times the cost of pocket grandmaster and pocket chess genius, and about twice as high as palm hiarcs. But you do get the online database...

I think the pricing is O.K in my mind. There seems to be included more features than any other PDA engine and it looks like it will be future proofed by being able to add newer stronger engines when they become available.I just hope that the 2550 rating is an underestimate because that means in the 6 years since PF2 that they have only gotten 100 elo improvement.

Hi Alex

Do you think chessbase will sell a new engine without the GUI?!!

I don't think the speeds of PPC have increased that much, maybe the top end changing from 400mhz to 624mhz, which might account for 35 elo (?). The rest would be from the software. Anyway, I guess we can give PF3 a rating after this tournament.

Hi Bryan,

Your pieces don't match any of the sizes in the current layouts. I need to create a new set of layout for your pieces. Since I'm doing code fixes now, I have not had the time to crete them.

I have spent a lot of time trying to make things work in PPC2002. So far, the UI works. As for the engine, I think the PPC2002 does not like the way I coded the exception handler. It is still in my todo list, so, I will have something working soon.

Just heard that PF3 with Hiarcs won with 8/10, 6 wins and 4 draws.Much better result than 2007 PF3 beta which played last year and got 5.5/10 against similar opposition.
