Rybka 3 1-CPU w32 crashes under SCID 3.6.24

Tried it on two different computers (both XP pro) with the same result. With Arena 1.99 beta5 and CB9 it is working perfectly!

Any ideas?

Don't know, but did you try renaming the exe file to a shorter name, maybe rybka32 or similar?

I tried, but it did not change anything...

And i have engines with longer filenames in SCID

This is normally no problem in SCID, but i tried it: no success!

I have not had good luck with UCI engines under scid. Try it with polyglot instead.

Hi,

All UCI engines I am aware of work under Scid 3.6.24 (only exception : Cyclone because its options' output is buggy). Previous versions of Rybka are known to work correctly under Windows and even Linux (with wine).

So the things to try :
- did you check the UCI checkbox in configuration dialog ?
- are you sure Rybka died, that is its process is no longer present in task manager ?
- did you try to put it and configure it with simple paths (no space, no special characters) ?

Personaly I don't have Rybka 3, so I can't try myself but indeed it should work.

Using polyglot is not a good idea. Scid handles UCI engines correctly and using UCI protocol you have access to all engines' functions.
