Hi Christophe,
many messages here have been deleted with personal attacks, and since you were among the first who asked why many messages have been deleted, I want to remind you of the fact, that you were among those who attacked the programmer of Rybka.
To demonstrate this I repeat a question that was asked by Jeroen Noomen, a former operator of Chess Tiger.
Jeroen asked you and it was repeated everywhere without any answer from your side until now:
He wrote something like, Dear Christophe,
in Chess Tiger 12, 13 or 14, did the output in the display reveil always the true KN/sec???
I am convinced that such a question cant be misinterpreted like a personal attack. All the best.

Re: Display Output Tiger 12,13,14 (Question)
Depends. I could answer that for Crafty by saying "yes". And someone would probably show a position where I report 1K nps or something. Why? Some positions get searched in zero time (a 4 ply search on a position where I have only one way to get out of check as an example). If you search in 0 time, and NPS = nodes searched / time, what would you report? Suppose another program runs and slows things down significantly? I would never answer an "always" question with yes. I was once taught "any sentence with the word always in it, is always false." (think about that one.Rolf wrote:Hi Christophe,

I would add that I do always _try_ to report the best number I can, the most accurate PV, the exact depth, etc, with no attempt to obfuscate the numbers in any fashion, other than what is caused by natural events such as given above.

Bob, the always must have been my personal flavor in the transmitting of the original question. Jeroen probably made a totally cool message without always. I mean we all know the answer because the silence of CT is so loud and almost deafening for our ears. His whole attack on Vas - at this very moment - was respectless and harmful just during the first sales of Rybka 3. You cant assist this, Bob.bob wrote:Depends. What I dont get in the whole problem, why, Bob, the already established commercial engines were never taken to task if they havent taken some stuff for free against written laws. The topic always boils up with new entries. You remember the LIST problem in Graz. The author should have shown his source but the famous guys didnt have to show.
Could you make a couple of comments about the overall meaning of such a topic in comparison to the whole history. Was it easier then to discover fakes and was there ever the idea to have a clean sport in competition?
I always understood you that the ways to cheat are thus that a null zero tolerance for possible violations was never applied because the real knowies always knew that it was useless. If that is true, then what has actions to tell that appear always on full moon in last week of July? When sober guy meets bad guy?
Or vice versa! <g>

If I think of the many talented 20 y. old fathers of new programs then I have envy. Historical unfairness of times envy.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:Hey Rolf, you're like a Pit Bull, you bite and never let go
Note well that I only react on too much chuzpe and hypocrisy. I see it as a crime if one sees something and abstains so that the wrong side becomes king. It's not my method to pray to the each new God but I am opposed to mean activities to put dirt on the true king, especially if he comes along with decent and lovable character.

Wont hold water , Bob. Jeroen at much of the time in question was working with Christophe. And like any good lawyer would- he already knew the answer to the question before he asked it.
